Who is a Virtuoso (ISTP)?
Virtuosos are individuals with the Introverted, Sensing, Thinking and Perceiving personality traits. They tend to be tolerant, flexible and analytical people with an eye for detail. Known for their independence, virtuosos are often seen as observers who make decisions based on objective information, rather than personal beliefs.
Virtuoso/Scorpio love to enjoy their own company, so much so that they can become irritated if they are not given their personal alone time. They are one of the most independent personalities and work very well by themselves. Because of their independence, they tend to mature very quickly as children, and become fiercely determined (sometimes even forceful) adults. It also means that they can be fearless when it comes to trying new things and challenging themselves with the unknown. They have a compelling drive to understand the way things work. They're good at logical analysis, and like to use it on practical concerns. They typically have strong powers of reasoning, although they're not interested in theories or concepts unless they can see a practical application. They like to take things apart and see the way they work.
An Virtuoso/Scorpio who is over-stressed may exhibit rash emotional outbursts of anger, or on the other extreme may be overwhelmed by emotions and feelings which they feel compelled to share with people (often inappropriately). A Virtuoso/Scorpio who is down on themselves will foray into the world of value judgments - a place which is not natural for them - and judge themselves by their inability to perform some task. They will then approach the task in a grim emotional state, expecting the worst. They are protective of both themselves and others and will rarely allow themselves to get hurt. This means that they are usually quite secretive and rarely show their feelings. They will protect their friends quite fiercely and most tend to give great advice. Because they can keep secrets, they tend to be valued deeply by their friends and are very trustworthy.
In love, they can seem cautious at first, and may set up a series of "tests" for their potential partner, deciding to cross them off their list if they don't meet their demands. The trouble is, they tend to keep their partner out of the loop on what, exactly, they want, making their partner feel like they have to play mind reader. If a Virtuoso/Scorpio and their partner can get past this initial hurdle, the connection will be intense, in both highs and lows. While they might need time alone, it does not mean they aren’t thinking of the person they are in love with. The Virtuoso/Scorpio spends a lot of time thinking about their loved ones when they are alone, and the ways to share their lives better with them. This is something they do without sharing or expressing it with those around them. They don’t need to explain all of their thoughts and inner feelings, they keep many of these things to themselves and private.
As easily as Virtuoso/Scorpios go with the flow, they can also ignore it entirely, and usually move in another direction with little apology or sensitivity. If someone tries to change their habits, lifestyle or ideas through criticism, they can become quite blunt in their irritation. They never forget a betrayal or insult, meaning that they can choose to retaliate even for the slightest of injuries. They can hold grudges for a long time and it is not a good idea to cross them.
